COOK for GEMS

A few years ago, members of our community were looking for a way to put their faith into action by supporting women and girls locally. Our congregation encountered Girls Educational & Mentoring Services (GEMS), a nearby non-profit dedicated to serving girls and young women who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking.

We asked GEMS what we could do to help. The response came back, “We could be more effective if we could provide meals to our young women twice a week.” And so we got to work. On the first Tuesday of every month, members of our community gather 5pm-8pm to make and freeze a month’s worth of meals for GEMS. We make this food to show our support and love for the courageous young women at GEMS and for the organization’s sacred mission. Join us any first Tuesday, 5pm-8pm.
