How Did We Get Here? Understanding Christian Nationalism

This program, co-sponsored by St. Paul & St. Andrew and Village Campus Ministry, will step back from the headlines and look at the development of right-wing populism among white evangelicals, including its history and the factors today that combine to make this political position appealing to this religious group. It will also look at white evangelicals who are not on the political right and explore their activism.

We’ll be taught by Professor Marcia Pally, who teaches at New York University and in the Theology Faculty of Humboldt University, Berlin, where she is also member of the Center for Interreligious Theology and Religious Studies and the Berlin Institute for Public Theology.  Her most recent books include White Evangelicals and Right-wing Populism: How Did We Get Here? and America’s New Evangelicals: Expanding the vision of the common good.
