“So Moses made a serpent of bronze, and put it upon a pole; and whenever a serpent bit someone, that person would look at the serpent of bronze and live.” – Numbers 21:9
Yikes! If I got bitten by a snake, I’m not sure I’d go to Moses for a cure. But I have felt strangely drawn to this scripture lately.
There seem to be a lot of serpents in our world right now – so much on our planet and in our lives that hurts and desperately needs healing. And I’ve been thinking a lot about where we can find God in all of it, and what God calls us to do in times of dis-ease.
So, as strange as it is, I’ve felt God tugging me towards this scriptural story – towards the snakes! – because in this story, we encounter God’s healing power. Maybe God’s healing is a little more mysterious and … slithery than we might expect.
I am so looking forward to being with you this Sunday as we set out to find a little healing together.
Blessings until then!
