“He came down with them and stood on a level place…” – Luke 6:17

In this week’s Gospel, we find Jesus on a level plain, for Luke’s version of the Sermon on the Mount, in the midst of a crowd in need of healing. When he finally speaks, the words that come from his mouth don’t make much sense according to what we know of the world.

Blessed are the poor and woe to the rich?

Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you, revile you, and defame you and woe to you when all speak well of you?

So where do we go to make sense of it all?

We’ll have to do some investigating together come Sunday, but as tricky as he might sometimes seem, I think Jesus has some answers for us.

See you Sunday, either in the Sanctuary at 11am or on You Tube!

Peace,
Andrea
