“David then danced before the Lord with all his might, girded only with a linen ephod.” 2 Samuel 6:14

As we explore the theme Towards Freedom this month, we have focused so far on the way we express freedom as individuals. The Spirit gives us the power and permission to be who we are, created in the image and likeness of God. The Spirit also the power not to be and do those parts of ourselves that are too focused on ourselves: the self-centered, selfish, and self-absorbed pieces of us.

This week we take a look at our collective freedom as a nation and a people, focused on ‘What’s Stopping Freedom?’ The way we use our freedom in our public life is tied to our responsibility and obligation to, in the words of Micah 6:8, “Do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God.” Working together for the common good is the way we will let freedom ring, for our nation and our world.

See you Sunday,

K
