“Jesus loved Martha and her sister and her brother Lazarus” – John 11:5
Where do we go when relationships hurt us? St. Paul & St. Andrew is going deep in our Lenten exploration of rupture and repair. This week, we wonder about ruptures in our autonomy. The Gospel lesson — Jesus’s resuscitation of Lazarus in John 11 — has rupture all over the place! We encounter here a vexed and hurting Jesus, one mourning a beloved, disagreeing with the disciples, and showing up late for his friends.
As the story unfolds, Jesus starts to assert his autonomy, showing us how to assert ours: not in spite of our relationships, but because of them.
Join us Sunday to find out more.
