Twentieth Sunday after Pentecost

Today’s Reading: Exodus 32: 7-14; Matthew 6: 19-21, 33

“So all the people took off their earrings and brought them to Aaron.  He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool.”  – Exodus 32

Jesus said, “Where your treasure is there will your heart be also.”  Whether we are people of faith or not, There is always something we worship, something we honor, something that gives our lives meaning.

Over the past several months, there has been renewed interest in the controversy around monuments. Who do we honor? What do we choose to remember, and how are those events depicted and remembered?

This Sunday, our journey through Exodus continues with the story of the golden calf. Come along, as we think about what we have learned, in a time of crisis, about what ultimately matters.
