“…and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease.” – Mark 5:29b
To know something by feeling it in your body — something we all experience but we don’t all talk about. Culture, that shared sense of what’s appropriate, clean, or normal, tells us what is and isn’t OK to say.
For the last several weeks, SPSA’s United Women of Faith have invited our community to gather menstrual hygiene supplies. After church on Sunday, we’ll pack the supplies so that individuals can use them, and by doing so, challenge the stigma that talking about periods in public is a problem:
In this week’s Gospel story, we witness a woman who is set free by telling the truth about her body in public – a bold and risky act.
To whom do we tell our own truths, and whose truths are we willing, with Jesus, to witness? We’ll explore these questions in worship, then continue our worship after the service by assembling the kits.
See you there!
