“Why do you look for the living among the dead?” Luke 24:5
Easter 2025. What can we say about the rising of Christ, when everything that’s happening seems designed to bring us down?
It’s a difficult time to be wrestling with resurrection. All around us we see instances of people betrayed. Of people arrested, sometimes even, like Jesus, in the midst of prayer. We hear of others, their humanity denied, their bodies and lives, their belongingness and being-ness called into question. God forgive us.
To be honest, I’d rather be writing about crucifixion.
And yet. What better time to remember the promise of Easter: Sure, we live in a Good Friday world. But we live in the hope of the resurrection.
As the preacher S.M. Lockridge said long ago: “Still, it’s Friday. It’s only Friday. But Sunday’s coming.”
Easter Blessings,
K
