God Forgives, I Don’t

Friends,

What a week! I don’t know about you, but I think I’m all about tired of saying and feeling this. Continued political strife and violence, failing infrastructure at the hands of our inability to be good stewards of our resources, it’s too darn hot/wet/windy…and on and on.

I won’t lie saints, as I’ve been juggling multiple jobs and responsibilities, keeping up with my friends and family and you all, trying to stay healthy, paying attention to the musings of our world, it feels a little fraught to say, well, God wants you to rest! Like, girl yes, we know that but how can we?

In our Hebrew Bible passage this morning, King David gets some reprieve from his enemies, thanks to an assist from God. Must be nice, to be surrounded by powers and principalities and God taking one for you. Have you ever experienced having enemies? I know I have…

This week, I’ll (re)introduce us to some of our enemies and perhaps we can explore some of the ways we can gain some reprieve from some of them, perhaps with Jesus’s help.

Speaking of reprieve, it seems like it’ll be a little bit cooler this morning, so we can take that as a win in the midst of heatwaves. Looking forward to being with you all, in all the ways we get to be together. I think there’ll be mini cupcakes after worship…
