Refugee and Asylum Seeker Support
We are called and committed to living out the radical welcome of our God.
How to get involved
We are called and committed to living out the radical welcome of our God. As part of living out this call, St. Paul & St. Andrew has a long history of being a “Sanctuary Church,” advocating and educating for the justice, equity, and inclusion of refugees and asylum-seekers. Volunteers are critical to this work. We currently have several ministries supporting the newest New Yorkers.
- We run a weekly resource fair on Mondays, where volunteers assist in welcoming folks, distributing essential goods and food, and helping folks sign up for discounted Metrocards.
- A few times a month, we also run a pop-up clothing store as a part of our resource fair. Joining our volunteer list will provide you notice about donation drop off dates for items such as clothing, shoes, toys and strollers.
- Beyond our resource fair, we pack welcome backpacks filled with essential goods that go to our mutual aid partner, La Morada, to be distributed to those settling into shelters in the South Bronx. We use Lotsa Helping Hands to coordinate our volunteer activities.

Once you are approved, you can go to the calendar, see the open tasks, click on a date that works for you and find the full description of the task as you scroll down on it. Then you can sign up! New tasks are added from time to time, so keep checking back and you'll also receive announcement emails and weekly emails once you've joined the database.
