Young Adults

New York City can be a hard place to make and sustain meaningful community. The Young Adult Ministry seeks to provide just that. We are a welcoming community, committed to being inclusive and supportive. We are actively engaged in fellowship, open dialogue, spiritual growth, social action and working with our community.

Bible & Brew

Every other Wednesday at 7:15 pm, we gather at an Irish Pub to eat, drink, and connect with one another. Part of our time together is focused on one particular topic of a series, determined by the group. Series in the past have included Theology 101, Tricky Bits of the Bible, Mid-Faith Crisis, and book studies on Anne Lamott’s Traveling Mercies and The Book of Joy by Archbishop Desmond Tutu and His Holiness the Dalai Lama. It’s a rich time learn and build relationship.

Monthly Lunch

The first Sunday of each month, the Young Adults eat lunch together after worship service. Sometimes we go out; sometimes we eat in. Every time, it is a chance to reconnect and catch up with each other.

Service

It’s important to the Young Adult community that we participate in the larger congregational life and work of the church, too. Members of our ministry sing in the choir, lead worship, read the Scriptures, play an instrument during worship, teach Sunday School to the kids, help with the Youth Ministry, tutor on Wednesdays, volunteer with our Women’s Shelter, cook for GEMS, serve on committees, and are very involved in every aspect of our life as a church. You are more than welcome to join us! For more information, contact Rev. Lea Matthews.
