Peculiar Blessings

“When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain; and after he sat down, his disciples came to him. Then he began to speak, and he taught them.” Matthew 5:1
That’s the way Matthew’s gospel introduces the famous Sermon on the Mount. For the following 111 verses, Jesus speaks and speaks, laying out his spiritual and ethical take on how to be a decent human being, and how to follow him as he lives out the way and will of God.
For the next several Sundays we’ll explore together these words of Jesus, and figure out what they tell us about how to live spiritual, ethical lives in our challenging times.
