On the Move

“Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I exiled you.” – Jeremiah 29:7

I love being an immigrant to this country (most days). My experience as a British-born Nigerian immigrant informs and shapes my experiences as an American. Somedays it can feel overwhelming or even frustrating, but for the most part, especially in these times, I am grateful for all of the places that I’ve called home before the Upper Westside of Manhattan, as they make my experience here everything I want it to be.

This week’s centering scripture comes to us as a message from God to God’s people, through the prophet Jeremiah. God implores the exiles, make do with what you’ve got, exactly where you are, because you have everything you need! The Bible is many things, including a story of a people on the move, and trying to make do with what’s available to them, because they have a God who consistently provides all things.

Roll on through as we see what God is revealing to us in this time, and of course, see you after service for our rescheduled cookout!
