In the Beginning Is the Relationship

Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”  Philippians 4:8

Friends,

What does God expect of us, anyway?

John Wesley came up with three ‘general rules’: Do no harm; Do good; Pay attention to God.

St. Paul goes into a bit more detail: “Think about these things: true things, honorable things, the ways of justice, etc.” and keep on “doing those things”.

Our ‘Souls and Solidarity’ groups worked on ‘doing those things’ over the summer, as part of our quest to be a liberating church.  And now we are ready to jump into another phase of that work. Please stick around after worship this Sunday and get involved!

We have this promise in the midst of the work: “The God of Peace will be with you.”

Amen to that!
