In Person Worship
We believe that all are welcome to participate in worship, no matter your age, background, or spiritual path.
The cornerstone of our services is our moving and inspirational sermons and prayers.
Worship at St. Paul & St. Andrew is a joyful, inspiring, thought-provoking, intimate, and entertaining celebration of life and faith. We worship in the sanctuary every Sunday morning at 11:00 am (or 10:00 am from July through Labor Day weekend). We believe that all are welcome to participate in worship, no matter your age, background, or spiritual path.
Additional Information
At St. Paul & St. Andrew, people are welcome to wear anything from suits to jeans and t-shirts – so please come in whatever makes you comfortable. You can enter on 86th St or West End Ave. The 86th St entrance has a ramp for those who have difficulty with stairs. When you enter the sanctuary, you are welcome to take a paper bulletin or scan the QR code with your phone for a digital bulletin. Make yourself at home in any pew.
At St. Paul & St. Andrew, we are committed to creating an inclusive church experience for all people. We aim to provide accessibility options for people of all ability levels. At our 86th Street entrance, we provide a wheelchair-accessible and stroller-friendly ramp for those who may have difficulty with stairs. An elevator also provides access to our church offices, meeting rooms, food pantry, social hall and theatre. We have ADA-accessible and All-Gender restrooms.
All children are welcome in worship - even those who squirm or cry! We love hearing kids in church and most children enjoy being in our worship services. We offer dedicated children’s worship bulletins full of activities, along with crayons to help children engage with the week’s content in age-appropriate ways. Near the beginning of our worship, one of our pastors invites children (and any caregivers) to the front of the sanctuary to hear a special Message for All Ages. Afterward, children may go to Sunday School (ages 4 to 10) in the third-floor youth room, nursery care (ages 3 and under) on the first-floor parlor, or stay in worship with their caregivers. Our 86th Street entrance is stroller accessible. For more information about our Children and Families Ministries, contact Andrea Steinkamp (andrea@stpaulandstandrew.org).
On the first Sunday of every month, we end our worship with the sacrament of Holy Communion. This is an ancient ritual of the Christian church that remembers Jesus’ last meal with his disciples and the generations of ancestors who have experienced God’s love in community. In the United Methodist tradition, all are welcome to fully join in this moment, no matter your age or spiritual journey. If you choose to participate, you will be invited to the front of the sanctuary to receive the elements. A piece of bread (“the bread of life”) will be offered to you, which you will be invited to dip into a cup of grape juice (“the cup of salvation”) and then eat. Gluten-free bread and a gluten-free cup are always available. If you don’t want to receive the elements you can still come forward and receive a blessing from one of the pastors by crossing your arms over your chest, hands resting on opposite shoulders. If you have never participated in this sacrament before, we hope you consider experiencing it with us!
Sunday mornings before worship at 10:00am, our volunteer choir assembles for fellowship and practice. It’s a wonderful opportunity to praise God in song and be in community. If you are interested in participating in choir, your voice is welcome! No audition is necessary, just a love of singing. Feel free to just come on any given Sunday morning. For more information on joining the choir, contact our Minister of Music, Frank Glass (frank@stpaulandstandrew.org).
